Employees at A-Gas (UK) Limited www.agas.com have made a contribution to Macmillan Cancer Support www.macmillan.org.uk and Cancer Research UK www.cancerresearchuk.org by successfully completing a coast to coast bike ride.
Team Pink Not Magenta enthusiastically cycled its way across a 140 mile route from Whitehaven to Tynemouth which proved to be challenging but exhilarating for the riders.
The team’s efforts raised £3,142.50 and this was matched by A-Gas bringing the final amount raised to £6,285.00.
“The coast to coast cycle event proved to be a huge challenge – some fantastic scenery and some incredibly difficult hills! Congratulations to all our riders and thank you to all their sponsors. We are thrilled to have raised a substantial sum which is being shared between the two charities,” says a delighted Francis Burraston who organised A-Gas’ volunteer riders.
Speaking on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support, John McCready, Macmillan Cancer Support’s fundraising manager for Bristol and North Somerset adds:
“We are delighted to receive this money which will help continue to support the thousands of people living with cancer in this area. It is through the support from staff at companies like A-Gas that enables us to provide medical, financial and emotional support to those with cancer. In Bristol statistics show that five people per day on average are diagnosed and in Britain two million people are living with cancer which makes fundraising like this very important, thank you A-Gas.”
