Following on the success of last year’s charity bike ride, employees at Bristol firm A-Gas (UK) Limited are getting back in the saddle again and taking part in another event to raise much needed money for Portishead Youth Club and are looking for much needed sponsors.
Following cutbacks by North Somerset Council, the youth club is working extra hard to raise much needed funds so that it can keep the youth club open and a fund raising committee has been set up to do this.
The A-Gas team includes Francis Burraston, Gwen Adamson-Dunn, Tony Hancorn, Rob Garland, Robert Parker, Jon Sellars, John Burgess and Mike Gorham. They will be joined by Ken Logan, Managing Director of A-Gas (UK) Limited and A-Gas International’s Sally Fairman.
The sponsored cycle ride is taking place on May 19th & 20th May when the team will be cycling the Devon coast-to-coast route which starts in Ilfracombe and winds its way down to the finish in Plymouth. Although challenging, the 102 mile route takes in some historic landmarks and rolling countryside which includes The Tarka Trail and The Granite Way as it clips the boundary of Dartmoor National Park.
“This is a great opportunity to raise funds for a very valuable local cause, and a focal hub right in the heart of the Portishead community. A variety of activities are available and this important resource deserves our support,” says Ken Logan.
The club provides numerous activities including table tennis, pool, air hockey music production stations and rehearsal space it also offers a five-a-side pitch, basket ball court and café.
The team has already received support but is looking for further sponsorship which can easily be donated through Virgin Money Giving by clicking on the following link http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/creamontop
A-Gas employees are regular fund raisers and have previously supported Comic Relief, Wear it Pink and Wrong Trousers Day. Last year’s coast to coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth in support of Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK raised in excess of £3000.
