UK Model Services

A-Gas’ refrigerant separation and reclamation plant has the following capabilities:

  • State-of-the-art Gas Chromatography equipment enabling testing of the purity of returned refrigerants
  • Fully equipped laboratory to check refrigerants for moisture, residues, non condensable and acidity to ensure refrigerants after cleaning comply with AHRI 700 standard and therefore can be classified under EC 1005/2009 as ‘Reclaimed’
  • Purpose built recovery systems for decanting and cleaning refrigerant
  • Bespoke refrigerant separation technology allows processing of any normally unusable refrigerant mixtures
  • Splitting mixed refrigerants, for example R407C mixed with R22 into usable batches

Refrigerant life cycle stewardship

A-Gas offers complete refrigerant life cycle stewardship by enabling end users and contractors to hand over responsibility for waste management from cradle to grave to A-Gas, enabling them to easily fulfill their legislative and regulatory obligations. By providing an all-inclusive service, A-Gas can prevent the unnecessary destruction of refrigerants to atmosphere. Not only do these methods have a negative impact on the environment in terms of illegal emissions, they can result in higher energy use as incineration was previously the only viable method of destruction for mixed refrigerants within the UK.

In addition please contact A-Gas (UK) for recovery and storage of Halons, you can contact us on [+44] (0) 1275 376600.

Refrigeration Separation Technology

A-Gas’ refrigerant separation plant is a completely bespoke technology created at our UK facility in Bristol. Built in-house by A-Gas’ own engineers, the system offers the very latest technology that not only boosts recycled supplies but enables A-Gas to reclaim gases from a cocktail of returned refrigerants.

This process is unique to A-Gas (UK) Ltd, making A-Gas the market leader in waste refrigerant processing within the UK. By splitting mixed refrigerants, A-Gas can increase the amount of recycled material available and is currently the only supplier who has the technology and capability to provide this level of service.

Reclaimed Refrigerants

With users in the UK previously reliant on R22 and other blends many are now looking to use Reclaimed HCFCs as a stop gap until the complete EU ban on the use of HCFCs at the end of 2014.   A-Gas offers a full range of reclaimed HCFCs as well as reclaimed HFCs using this new refrigeration separation technology.

Cleaning, Banking and Storage

Used refrigerant can be recovered from a facility and taken to A-Gas for cleaning.   A-Gas offers a refrigerant cleaning and banking service for used HCFCs as well as commonly used HFCs. The decanting and cleaning systems at A-Gas allow the efficient processing and bulking up of returned refrigerant from cylinders to metric tonne containers. Contaminants such as oil, acids, moisture and non-condensibles are removed by the cleaning process.

Reusing recycled refrigerant in this way, or by banking reclaimed HCFCs A-Gas can provide guaranteed access to genuine reclaimed refrigerant when required.

By providing a full range of solutions to our customers it is possible to actively prevent the unnecessary destruction of refrigerants as well as avoiding illegal practices such as the release of refrigerants to the atmosphere.
